After years of anticipation, Marvel’s “The Defenders” is finally here. Much like the build up to the Avengers, each team member got to prove their worth in their own solo outing in a thirteen episode show and cheekily allude to the other supers that existed in the “small” area of New York City. With all of the interest into how New York’s “street level’ heroes would work together, the stakes were undoubtedly high. Unfortunately, while there are some undeniable highlights in the long awaited team-up, “The Defenders” is the weakest show on Marvel’s Netflix roster since “Iron Fist.” Continue reading The Defenders is a Failed Experiment
After a well received first season adaptation of the young adult novel 13 Reasons Why, Netflix announced that the story will continue with a season 2. As foreshadowed by the somewhat offputting sequel bait in the series final few episodes last season, this new season will feature an entirely original storyline apart from the tale concerning the suicide of high school student Hannah and one boy’s work to discover why. More story and cast details are being kept under wraps for now.
Fighting evil never looked so good.
Cutting the cord has never been more appealing than the age we live in now. Services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime have shown themselves more than worthy of creating original films and series. Netflix in particular has been absolutely killing it as of late with so much new original quality content it’s a bit difficult to keep up. However, that is no excuse to not see The Discovery. A film focusing on the poignant question of “what is the meaning of life, if the afterlife is real?” stays in your mind long after the credits roll. Though the story and pacing do fight around some issues, the feelings and thoughts raised from the ideas of the film have remarkable effect. Continue reading The Discovery Review
